Sex/Pornography

Sex generally is not seen as a negative experience. During sex the brain release doses of the hormone oxytocin. This hormone is also a natural pain killer and is the hormone released when we fall in love.

Its euphoric potency is much higher than dopamine, therefore, making it a pleasurable instance of short-term relief. As with all other examples of instant relief the brain can get hooked and crave it more and more frequently disregarding the long-term consequences.

People usually associate sex addiction with merely the act of having sex but it also includes masturbation, pornography, and seeking prostitutes as the end goal is primarily the same.

Some people may have a dependency on sex and sexual activity to numb any emotions and difficult experiences they struggle to process. This can have a negative & adverse effect on the person’s quality of life and those around them, especially partners & spouses.

Pornography addiction can change a person’s view of sexual partners and create a unhealthy view of sex in general. It risks the creation of objectification.
